Is Now a Good Time to Get into Real Estate?

The answer is yes! Now is the perfect time to get into the real estate business. Even if you are not ready to leave your current job, it is wise to get a Florida real estate license. You never know what the future holds, and people are always going to be buying and selling homes until the end of time. If you get your Florida real estate license and you are not quite ready to change careers, you can always put your license on voluntary inactive status for as long as you want. This holds your license in place until you are ready to be employed by a broker or owner developer. Of course, you will still be required to keep up with your continuing education and pay your license renewal fees, and you can always activate your license at any time.

If you are a people person and you would enjoy showing homes and don’t mind getting out there among the competition, you can’t go wrong. Just be sure that you start out with a real estate company that has a good training program. Most real estate agents work from home, and if you are unable to devote full time to it, part time may be an option for you. Even though you are employed with a broker, you still work your own hours on your own time. Just keep in mind, like with anything else, the more you put into it, the more you will get out. Even working part time in the real estate business can yield big results. Once you get a few sales under your belt, it may encourage you to work on it full time. In any case, getting a real estate license in Florida is a wise decision for both young and old, and there is no time like the present to start.

How Long Will it Take to Get My Florida Real Estate License?

The (DBPR) known as the Department of Business and Professional Regulations, is starting to speed things back up and students are getting their approvals to take the state exam back in 2 1/2 to 3 weeks.  You may think that is a long wait but they actually reserve 90 days to approve or deny an application.
If you are interested in getting started, there is a couple of things that you must do to apply for your Florida real estate license. Besides completing and passing the course, either online or in the classroom, you will need to get your fingerprints done through www.Identogo.com and then submit an application online to the DBPR.  The approval from the state is good for 2 years.  So is your course completion certificate. For more information about the state exam, the DBPR Student Candidate Handbook will give you information on the state exam that will help you know what to expect.

How Should I Start?

If you want to start off on the right foot, purchase your course, then get your fingerprints and your application submitted to the state first and foremost. That way, you can work on your online course while you wait for the DBPR to do your background check and send you approval to take the state exam. It is important to take the state exam as soon as you can after passing your course. The longer you wait, the more you will forget. The same goes for the live classroom and live Zoom classes. We encourage our students to have their approval back and schedule their state exam the day after class if possible. This takes a little planning, but that is when you will do your very best. All you have to do is call our office and ask for our student support specialist, Paula Stone, and she will personally guide you through getting everything done. Whether you are a Florida resident or out of state, we are here to help you succeed.
