Applying for a Florida real estate sales associate license is a step by step process. The best way to avoid delays is to complete each step in the correct order and keep your confirmations as you go.

  1. Be at least 18 years old
  2. Have a United States Social Security number

Step By Step Application Process

  1. Submit your application for licensure through DBPR.
  2. Complete electronic fingerprints using an FDLE registered Livescan provider immediately after submitting your application. The application should come before fingerprints, and fingerprint results may take up to five days to be received by the Department.
  3. Complete the Florida approved 63 hour pre license course and pass the course final exam.
  4. After your application is approved, schedule your state exam with Pearson VUE.
  5. Bring proof of a valid course completion certificate to the exam site when you test. An expired course will not be accepted at the exam site.
  6. After you pass the state exam, activate your license with a Florida broker so you can begin working.

Helpful Tips To Avoid Delays

Submit your application first, then complete fingerprints right away. Processing can take several days, so completing fingerprints quickly after applying can help prevent unnecessary delays.

Processing times vary. Many students receive approval in a few weeks, but Florida law allows up to 90 days after receipt of a completed application for the agency to approve or deny the application.
